Varanasi Shrines is an extended series of small works on paper in painted frames. They are the product of a three month residency at the Alice Bohner Institute in Varanasi, India, in early 2020. They are the result of many hours spent walking the ghats along the Ganges River and the very busy streets and alleys of this holy city and draw special inspiration from the dense web of shrines and devotional sites dedicated to the Hindu pantheon and from the people who come to see and be seen by their deities.
